Understand what CPGA is, what is still being developed and how the proposed credential fits within DPCI’s professional pathways.

What is CPGA?

About CPGA

Certified Privacy Governance Associate (CPGA) is a foundational privacy competency credential being developed by the Data Privacy Council (DPCI). It focuses on privacy principles, India's DPDP framework, organisational accountability and foundational implementation judgement.

Who is it intended for?

About CPGA

CPGA is intended for GRC, compliance, risk and internal audit professionals, legal operations and technology teams, and students or professionals exploring privacy responsibilities. These audiences do not constitute final eligibility criteria.

Can I enrol or book an examination now?

Programme status

No. CPGA is in development. Enrolment, examination dates and booking arrangements have not been announced. The enquiry page currently creates an unsent draft; it does not register or reserve a place.

Is CPGA a free certification?

Programme status

No. CPGA is planned as a paid foundational certification. Fees are not yet finalised. It is distinct from any separate free privacy awareness assessment.

What will the assessment involve?

Assessment

The proposed approach assesses foundational knowledge and judgement through privacy governance scenarios. The examination format, question count, duration and pass criteria are not finalised.

Does finishing a course automatically earn CPGA?

Assessment

No. Course completion records learning participation. Earning a professional credential requires meeting the separately published assessment and award requirements when they are finalised.

Are eligibility, renewal and continuing education requirements available?

Assessment

Not yet. Eligibility, continuing development and renewal arrangements are being developed. Confirmed requirements will be published before applications open.

How is CPGA different from CPIP?

Pathways

CPGA focuses on foundational privacy governance knowledge and scenario judgement. CPIP is the proposed advanced implementation credential focused on processes, controls and evidence. They serve different competency needs.

Must I earn CPGA before CPIP?

Pathways

CPGA is not currently a mandatory prerequisite for CPIP. Any future pathway or eligibility requirements will be published explicitly.

How will fairness and appeals be addressed?

Assessment

DPCI intends to publish arrangements for assessment integrity, conflicts of interest, reasonable adjustments and fair review and appeals before applications open. These are planned arrangements, not a claim that those processes are already operating.

Are the practice scenarios official examination questions?

Preparation

No. The preparation resources on this site are illustrative learning aids. They are not an official question bank, mock examination or prediction of examination performance.
